Remember, you’re always better off making a plan and sticking to it for the long term. Ignore much of what you read in the financial press or hear on talk shows, because you are investing and indeed living for the long term - not the front page.
Good planning is based on sound principles; certainly not, on the latest fad. The universal rule for successful retirement remains to be debt free. I am reminded of my many clients who are comfortable living on much less than you may expect, which can be attributed to this one accomplishment over all others, they have no debt. A financial planner at the very least can help you achieve a debt free life.
